How To Create Rules To Filter Your Gmail Emails

You can easily manage your incoming email using Google email’s filters to send email to a label, or archive box, you can delete, star, or automatically forward your email.

How to create a filter?

  1. Sign in Gmail.
  2. In the Gmail search box at the top of the page, click the Down arrow (icon).
  3. Type your search criteria. If you want to check that your search is working correctly, see what emails show up by clicking on Search Option. 
  4. At the bottom of the search mail window, click “Create filter with this search”.
  5.  Click to choose what you’d like the filter to do.
  6. Now click to “Create filter”.

Note: When you create a filter to forward emails, only new emails will be affected. ​Additionally, when someone replies to an emails you’ve filtered, the reply will only be filtered if it’s full filing the same search criteria.

How to use a particular emails to create a filter

  1. Sign in Gmail.
  2. Click to check the checkbox next to the email you want to create filter.
  3. Now Click at More.
  4. Click Filter emails like these.
  5. Type your filter criteria.

Edit or delete filters from Gmail account.

  1. Sign in Gmail.
  2. At the top right corner, click Settings (gear icon).
  3. Click Settings tab.
  4. Click “Filters and Blocked Addresses”.
  5. Find the filter you’d like to change.
  6. Click edit or delete to remove the filter in email. If you want to edit the filter, click “Continue” when you have done editing.
  7. Click “Update the email filter”.

You can create as many filters as you like, but only twenty filters can forward to other email addresses.
