How To Import, Restore, Or Back Up Contacts In Google?

Import contacts

If you have a contact list that you want to use in Google email, you can import the contact list into Google Contacts.

Note: If you are importing details for someone who’s already in your Google email Contacts, the imported contact detail will replace the existing contact.

From Yahoo, Outlook, Hotmail, AOL, Apple, and other email providers

  1. Log in to Google account and Go to the Google Contacts.
  2. On the left side, click at More > Import.
  3. Now click to select the account you want to import contacts from.
  4. Click I Agree, Let’s Go! (Button)
  5. Log in to your email account. Note: If you are using 2-step verification with Apple, do a search on how to create an Apple password specifically for importing contacts into Google account.
  6. Press Agree.

From a Google email account

Step 1: Export existing Gmail contacts into a CSV file

  1. Visit the old version of Google Contacts.
  2. In the top left corner, click at More > Export button.
  3. Now click to select contacts you want to export.
  • “My Contacts” are the contacts you have already created.
  • “All contacts” are the contacts you have created and Other Contacts you’ve send by email.
  1. Select Google CSV format.
  2. Click Export tab.
  3. In the top right corner, click your profile photo, and then click Sign out button.

Step 2: Import the file

  1. Visit the old version of Google Contacts.
  2. In the top left corner, click More > Import.
  3. Now Click to Choose File.
  4. Select your CSV format file.
  5. Click Import tab.
